Taste the Difference Chilean Chardonnay

Chardonnay still divides people but there’s no denying if you get a good one it can be sublime. I’m not saying that this is the best Chardonnay I’ve ever tasted far from it but if you want one that’s more than decent and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg then look no further.

This Sainsbury’s ‘Taste the Difference Chilean Chardonnay’ is definitely up there with the best I’ve tasted recently and for a supermarket, wine costing around £8 hard to beat.

TTD Chilean Chardonnay

As I’ve said earlier, I’ll go as far as to say that this Chardonnay is probably the best white wine off a supermarket shelf I tasted for a while. Chablis lovers will find that this is a pretty close match, it has some salinity and minerality, citrus fruits with some pear. Flavours of peach, apricot, tangerine, apple and melon follow and the merest hint of subtle oak in the background (nothing over the top here) and finishing with a slight sweetness.

This is a wine that punches well above its weight especially for £8 and I have no hesitation in recommending it. I will be back for more, get it on offer and it becomes even more desirable but even at full price, it’s well worth it.
